An interesting piece relating to the early history and opening of Long Kesh for internment. With white metal pommel decorated with Royal Engineers crest and inscribed "WO II B. Longworth B.E.M. R.E., 33 Field Sqdrn. R.E., Long Kesh, From the Officers, Sep 1971." Brian Longworth was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1958 and later reached the rank of Captain.
